You can catch Cheryl’s warm, infectious laughter and cheeky repartee with co-host Shan Wee, on SPH Radio’s brand new Adult Contemporary Station, ONE FM 91.3 from 19th January 2015. “The Escape Plan with Shan & Cheryl” takes you home, weekdays 4-8pm, with all your favourite tunes from Phil Collins & Pat Benatar to The Script & Ed Sheeran.
The duo have been making waves since March 2013 with the hugely popular “The Shan & Cheryl Show”, on HOT FM on both the evening and morning drive time slots and are excited to kick off 2015 with a brand new show and a brand new sound!
Since her foray into radio broadcasting in 2008, Cheryl has worked on-air with celebrities like Singapore’s funny man Hossan Leong, local hip-hop icon Sheikh Haikel and Australian comedian Jonathan Atherton, as well as veteran DJs Suzanne Walker, Jeremy Ratnam, Daniel Ong and with Maddy Barber on Singapore’s only all-girl show “The Backseat”.
A professional Master of Ceremonies since 2005, her charm, quick wit, sense of humour and natural charisma make her a favoured host for a wide variety of events including press conferences, concerts, road shows, awards ceremonies, product launches and corporate dinners – whether formal, fun or flamboyant. A graduate of Nanyang Polytechnic, School of IT (Diploma in Digital Media Design) and rated one of FHM’s Top 100 Sexiest women in both 2002 and 2006, Cheryl’s diverse background has seen her host events from technology to fashion and beauty. With her dance & fitness background, and qualifications in Sports Medicine she is the perfect choice for hosting sports, fitness and music related events, while her class and elegance have seen her hold her own in the presence of dignitaries and ministers at formal events.
As a TV presenter, she has hosted various lifestyle programmes on Channel News Asia like “Beauty Past Perfect”, “Restaurants Rated” & co-hosted “CEO Epicure” with Lisa Ang. She was also awarded the title of “Best Lifestyle Presenter” (Food Category) for Channel New’s Asia’s “Audition Me!” in 2005, a nationwide search for upcoming television presenters.
Cheryl has sung for numerous corporate events and club/bar performances – both locally and regionally – and on several song recordings, which have enjoyed regular airplay. Her singing career first gained national recognition in 2001 with the now disbanded, all-girl pop sensation, CCCrush (formerly known as Cherry Chocolate Candy) – winners of the national singing competition, Mediacorp’s Talentime 2001.
Her experience as a theatre, TV actress & singer makes Cheryl an ideal voice-over talent and she has lent her voice to numerous TV & Radio commercials to date. Nominated twice for Best Supporting Actress for Life Theatre Awards in 2006 & 2008, Cheryl was also in several local TV drama series like Lifeline (Seasons 1 & 2), Going Straits & Singapore Shakes.
She is a proud member of the Composers and Authors Association of Singapore (COMPASS) and the Association of Singapore Actors and has volunteered her services for humanitarian fund raisers for NGOs like Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE), Mercy Relief, Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES), Chengdu Pambassador and WildAid.
